Finnish Brewster

Hi,
Looks like here is many interesting combat-plane threads, so hope im wellcome to keep here a thread from Finnish Brewster.
I like the plane is big as possible and easy to fly, and accurate scale.
So this one is 1:12 scale + 5% biggest allowed in rules. 0.15 class.
Based on blueprints and with scale airfoil. This one is full composite with all the rivet details in it.
All scale fuseformers cut and glued. 3x3 pinespars glued on scale locations. between those 3mm balsa. Marking all the time with pen former locations.
In pic old brewster, new one will be more accurate.

Cheers

-Jukka-

Nice plane. Take care not to go to far with the tolerances. 5% is just for the wingspan. All other measures have a 2cm tolerance.

Best regards,
Wilhelm

Yes im careful. Every dimension will fit in that 2cm rule more like max 1cm difference.. I just love Brewster and want these to be so scale as possible. And max span and lenght will fit in rules. 934mm max span and 704mm max lenght.
I have some scrap pcs of nomex honeycomp and all the parts will be so light as doable with vacuum. Old Brewster shown its very important to keep it under 850grams rather less than 750g.
Does the new 2,5cc Fora match to internatinal rules? I have 2 Os Max LA 15 for this. Would be nice to test that Fora engine.. Any experiences? Its bit of pricy..

From what I tested, It turns the 8x4 MA Scimitar S2 with around 15800rpm. But it is not yet fully broken in.

It's pricy. The carburetor is not so well made. But you need 13mm mount for carburetor. So It's hard to find a right sized carburetor.

The rest of the Motor is more made like a .21 or .25 from size. 6mm Shaft. Talk to Viktor Trukhan from Bellarussia to get the motor.

Very good results I got with the Magnum XLS. Also made by ASP or P.H.. 16200rpm with 8x4 at the ground. 16% nitromethane.

Best regards,
Wilhelm

Hello !

Can you please post a picture of the Fora and what fuel and plug you used ? Then i can help, maybe.
15800 sounds a bit weak for this type of engine.

Best regards,
Sebastian

So its propably not worth of extra money. Thanks! OS la is very good with MA8x3 prop. We have with 8x3 national limit 18000rpm (since 2017)
Helps a bit small class planes with streamer.

Some progress. Next rudder and fin. Some picture from old Brewsters, this will be more scale in details...

These are finish swastikas... Not German. You see the difference in the angle. These are flat, Nazi ones are 45°. Prohibition is stupid.

Indeed. And things happened +70 years ago. And history of violence is world wide. Under star emblem is happened much more. But law is what it is.
Finnish air force flag still have svastika and in our presidents flag. In the end its just a emblem.

Bit of sanding and wheelwells then ready for lithoplate. Starts to look like Brewster.
