Sorry Jungs...ich hoffe, alle sind der englischen Sprache mächti
A lot of new planes entered the market in the past months and Team Concept does not want to stay behind new trends and technologies.
There are a lot of big changes to announce - first and most important one is the new cooperation between Concept DLG and the fabulous Stream Team. I am more than happy, that Laurynas Ceskevicius agreed to produce the new CX5.
I am also truely happy that Nick Wu from Aero+ agreed to chime into this project. As most of you know, Nick was even as close as I was to my father Roland Sr. and we both learned a lot of him. It was a real challenge for Nick and I to match the high expecttions of my father when designing a new plane. I think, Nick did a fantastic job and we are both very happy with the result.
Why a Concept X5?
Well, most of you know the variety of CX planes over the years and in my opinion, we are still having the best wind penetrating plane on the market with the CX4. But being good here needs a trade off in other parts of the flight envelope. Saying that, the CX4 was never known to be the killer deadair plane.
We did several things here...
First one was to move the flight envelope towards better deadair characteristics but giving away only little of the wind penetration abilities. So, thiner airfoil with a wing area of 19,5 sqdm. New, more aerodynamical fuselage with slip off nose (designed by Laurynas himself) and finally - a solid core wing!
That was one of the reason, why I asked Laurynas for a cooperation - he is the best producer of solid core wings and also one of the top overall quality producers worldwide...From the scratch he was able to match the defaults concerning weights. An AUW of 210-230gr should be achieved very easily.
So far, we have
wing - CW40 layup with IM carbon reinforcement ~105gr
Fuselage - ~ 35gr
tailset - average ~ 10.3gr
We will offer 2 basic designs with various color combinations.
Shipping will be directly from the Stream Team.
You can order your plane either:
via www.streamf3k.com
through myself via PM or via concept.order@aol.de
via www.fly3k.com, Mika Ruonala kindly allowed us to use his website
There will be only one distributor worldwide for the CX5. Aero+ will sell it for us in Asia, so all our Asian/Pacific friends will have the opportunity to order the CX5 via
www.aeroplus.co
At the beginning, 2 designs and 2 layups will be available with various color combinations. A camouflage design and a design that allows best visibility and contrast with lowest possible weight.
Standard layup will be CW40 with an IM carbon reinforcement and a little heavier but stronger Samurai layup.
We will add a light layup very soon when tested okay
I will let you follow my build of the CX5 here in this thread very soon. Bruno Pavani, George Morris and Vincent Merlijn will get their planes soon and I am sure that they are going to share their build and flying experiences, too...
Prices:
Light layup with CW20 and reinforced spar (~95gr wingweight) 699,00€
Standard layup with CW40 and IM reinforcement (~105gr ww) 699,00€
Strong layup with Samurai and IM reinforcement (~115gr ww) 749,00€
Finally, I want to say how proud I am that cooperation and communication between Laurynas, Nick and I went so flawless. From scratch to production, we only needed around 6 months. Special thanks to Nick who agreed to work with us although he had tons of work with the Flare. Really would like to hear Seniors opinion about it from the F3K sky
Take care,
Rollo
