The A2M is just finalized, although we have sold an initial first batch I did some changes to refine; namely a new CNC radio tray, horns modified to attach more strongly. We also considered the lay up options and decided that all will now come with the double carbon coreless construction, the fuselage remains carbon reinforced and the tails glass. Ready to fly this version is approx 1800g so perfect weight for lighter winds but incredibly strong wing if you are likely to take up 300m+ and dive straight down!!
The sections are new and development of the Vector series which of course the whole plane is. The section is more efficient and designed with better energy retention in mind. Shape wise it has more vertical area with deeper nose and bigger fin and rudder. Another major change is that it is an elevator design for pitch control and not all moving tail. This we have found requires much less deflection for same pitch response.
Construction wise it has a very good mould quality and the A2M is made directly off CNC aluminium moulds so very accurate.
And the biggest thing; it features a revolutionary sine wave spar which is much lighter and stiffer in torsion.
We have been developing this plane for nearly 2 yrs (far longer than we should have!) but the production version has greater energy retention and uses much less control movement in roll especially and already reduced throw for pitch (using elevators). The A2M feels faster than it’s bigger brother the A3M which is also now ready but this is just scale effect as using a radar gun the A3M flies marginally faster but looks so much slower (and therefore more graceful) in the air!
