Rather than saying has EF1 died, it might be more appropriate to say did it ever get born in Europe!
We race a few heats of EF1 in england on the FAI course, this is just so a few people with the EF1 models can race, they do not have enough interest to run a stand alone meeting.
EF1 is what I would describe as an Internet forum generated class, this means it is very easy to talk from behind the keyboard about the class but getting out and doing it is another thing.
This will be the second time that I have seen this with an electric pylon class, we had the same thing happen in England with a class called E2K, there were about 25 people who said that they would race, when push came to shove 4 turned up!!
